Apple Incorporated, the American multinational corporation is hoping to announce its latest IPhone, as the IPhone 6. Right now it is being guarded heavily by prying eyes, but app usage logs are showingthat testing is occurring and registering new IP addresses.
Apple is King
Apple Inc., originally a computer manufacture switched is focus from computers to smartphones as demand grew for cellphones to act more as a virtual office than what was being offered before. The first IPhone was introduced in 2007, and Apple retained the lordship over all android smartphones until the beginning of 2013.
Set to release in July 2013, the IPhone 6 will hopefully generate enough interest to regain its crown, but very few details about the IPhone 6 have been released.
Design
IPhones have an iconic look which was only slightly changed with the releases of the IPhone 5 and its 4 inch screen with multi touch capabilities and an 1136 x 640 pixel @ 326 ppi.
Making assumptions of Apple wanting to keep their IPhone iconic look and software, a consumer can expect that the IPhone 6 will be very similar to the IPhone 5 with its larger touchscreen (4” H,) new A6 processor, and the newiOS 7 (operating system.) Storage will most like be 16, 32 or 64 GB flash memory, and encased in its typical dimensions of 4.87” H, 2.31” W and 0.30” D.
Colour Availability
Rumors abound over the internet, but there are a few reliable ideas on the IPhone 6; it will be Apples answer for a cheap smartphone, colour availability will great (an answer to competitions black and white option) and the use of Broadcom’s BRCM 43342 combo chip.
The Broadcom BRCM 43342 combo chip is being used by Samsung as well, so Apple at least meets up to the standard on this. The BRCM 43342 combo chip is said to be three times faster than its predecessor and six times more power efficient.
Competition
Apple Incorporated hopefully will not disappoint with the IPhone 6, but many IPhone followers are not convinced that there will be enough difference or improvements in this latest version of the IPhone.
Since Samsung surpassed Apple in the smartphone market in the beginning of 2013, Apple appears to be stuck in a rut with the iconic IPhone, and if rumours are true, the IPhone 6 will be another version of the same old IPhone.
New Features
A one positive rumour is that Apple may be introducing a fingerprint sensor built into the home button. If this is so, Apple hopefully will get back some of their lost followers, but we will all have to wait until at least June to see what Apple really has in store for the IPhone 6. If this rumour is true, than smartphone manufacturers will once again look to Apple for new ideas and trends.
For Apple to get back to the top of the smartphone food chain, they need to ramp up their software, apps and offer new, innovative gadgets.
