Might Google refresh the Nexus 4 with LTE for Android 4.4?

Share

Here we go again with yet another Android 4.4/Nexus rumor…

Google could be readying a refreshed version of the LG Nexus 4 with LTE support and have it ready to go with Android 4.4 KitKat. The rumor suggests that instead of introducing one new model this fall, Google will tweak the current edition with 4G LTE and keep price points spread out evenly.

Indeed, this would be the first time Google pulled such a move so we should proceed with caution. With that said, it might be smart to slowly expand the portfolio of devices and adjust prices over time.

According to the chatter, the new 16GB LTE model will sell for $300 with the 32GB LTE model going for $350 without a contract. The Nexus 5 could come in around $400 (16GB) and $450 (32GB), which is slightly higher than previous rumors.

All things considered, Android 4.4 figures to be a lightweight update so the Nexus 4 should be more than adequate hardware to power the platform. What’s more, the refreshed models could launch with KitKat with previous versions picking up the software in the ensuing days.
