The IoT And Blockchain Marriage Is Inevitable, And 75% Of Those Surveyed Want It

Share

The IoT (Internet of Things) industry is booming, and for industry leaders, there’s more to just creating a network of interconnected devices than convenience. A survey among a group of IoT technology adaptors revealed that  75% are already on the blockchain train, and if not, they’re researching it. Safety, security, and adding value are all part of the value proposition for an IoT integration. However, relying on a straightforward home network can  create weaknesses in the connection. This is where blockchain comes in.

Increasing The Integrity Of Data On The Network
Blockchain provides the IoT industry with that extra layer of security where the  integrity of data is concerned. Those who have already dabbled with IoT might have been exposed to weaknesses such as security and stability. Blockchain, thanks to its incorruptible nature, provides a framework for the network to operate on. Think of blockchain as the skeleton of an IoT body. While the network can survive without it, the addition of blockchain provides the necessary stability.

Providing Support For Increased Data
While security is an item that often pops up on the IoT agenda, it’s not the only area of concern. Data load is another that IoT networks have to contend with, and when blockchain is added to  managed services, allowing  increased amounts of data to be processed becomes a little easier. This is especially important for those who rely on IoT for monitoring as much as accessing, such as appliances that are responsible for temperature-related applications or medical equipment. The integration of big data is also something that IoT networks will need to be able to accommodate in the near future, and with the targeted processing that happens with blockchain, this process takes place faster and with less strain on the network.

Immutable Audit Train Secures The Network
One of the most important applications of IoT in a home or business network is the ability to keep track of the various devices on the network and provide information about each link on the chain at a moment’s notice. One of the major concerns on a traditional network is that system errors and hacking attempts can erase vital information. With blockchain, however, the  immutable audit trail can be accessed at any time, and the nature of blockchain protects this audit trail for both ends, whether you’re the owner of the network or the one servicing it.

Blockchain technology has the ability to resolve major issues that IoT engineers experience within their networks.
