IFA 2020 continues, but different from normal

Share

Now that one after the other tech fair is canceled because of the coronavirus, it is the IFA’s turn today that is normally held in September. The IFA will not continue in its current form, but it will not be canceled.

The IFA; traditionally the tech fair where Samsung announces its next Galaxy Note. But also other manufacturers often use the fair in Berlin to present new phones. The coronavirus again throws a spanner in the works. Germany has banned all large-scale events until 24 October. However, the IFA doesn’t leave it at that and continues, but in a different way than you are used to.

The IFA for the coronavirus

And according to an “innovative new concept”. How exactly is unclear, the organizers are now going to think about that. Possibly a part like presentations will be broadcasted online. How the exhibition floor, visiting stands and hands-ons will go or will have to be filled out differently. Earlier this year the Mobile World Congress was canceled for the same reason. Some manufacturers announced their phones via a live stream. Nevertheless, many postponed their launch. Whether this also applies to the IFA announcements, such as those of the Note 20, will have to be seen.

Avent ban

The IFA fair in Berlin is certainly not the only German event affected by the coronavirus. The Berlin marathon and the Oktoberfest are canceled. In the Netherlands, all events are prohibited until 1 September.
